Pre-Shred or Cut Your Veggies

One of the biggest pains in making a salad is having to cut everything up to put into the salad. Imagine how easy it would be if you already had everything cut up and available on hand?

That would make salad making much easier. That’s the point of this tip.

Once you come back from getting your produce, shred or cut up your veggies. If you don’t do it then, you and I both know that you won’t likely do it. I know that I certainly don’t.

My machine of choice for this is a food processor with a slicing or shredding disc. It depends upon the veggie.

You can also do it by hand, but that’s time consuming. I’ve purchased (and returned) many mandolines because they did a better job of shredding my knuckles instead of the vegetables. So I invested in a larger food processor.

The vegetables that I usually shred or slice once I get them are carrots, beets, broccoli, cauliflower and onions. Then I’ll keep them in a container in the fridge.

When I need them, there’s no need to cut. Just scoop some out and toss into my salad.
