Do you like picnics as much as I do? But don’t care for some of the typical Picnic foods that people eat. Those bags of chips, fatty cheese and embutidos (or sausage-like substances) only lead to inflammation, acidity and nastiness. Not worthy when you’re trying to have a great time.
Plus, you worked hard to have a beach-ready body and you want to keep it! Or, at least you just don’t want any more weight on!

So why not have a healthy yet tasty and fun picnic or beach outing by substituting older food ideas for fun, exciting and healthier ones. Because summer is as great a time as ever to try some new stuff!
So the first thing I would do is to drop the soda and vitamin water and replace it for water with fruit: Like watermelon mint or peach rosemary water.
Water with some mint and lemon slices. About 2 bottles per person if you’re staying for 2-3 hours
Pack lots of cooling fruit (cherries, grapes, watermelon). Summer is abundant in fruit so have at it.
Free the watermelon and they can be icy treats
Hummus with carrot, celery sticks so you don’t have to use utensils. Hummus high in protein and easily digestible, because we will be in a warm area (beach or park) and we don’t want to overheat our bodies with too much protein and too much food in our bellies
Home-made trail mix with some almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, dry cranberries and sunflower seeds.
Very nutritious and easy to carry around. Great substitute for potato chips. That craving for fat will be satiated with these nuts as they have natural, healthy oils.
Make little sandwiches (use gluten free bread, organic fruit spread and almond butter. Cut them in 4 and share as finger picking food).
You can also make your own dip using recipes found online to avoid packaged and processed stuff.
You can also get some organic or bio-dynamic wine to have with your meals
But the reality is that you want to keep it simple because the point of a picnic is not that much about the food but about a great combination of light food, great company, fresh air, the sun, fun activities and some awesome reading or music listening.
